Encore: Scarlet Begonias, Rainbow's Cadillac
The show was a reasonably intense 3 hours...the crowd was upbeat, even when the songs were ballads. This is considering the idea that there was a pretty good bit of beer and wine, flowing...at first, Biltmore security was holding people back from the front edge of the stage, but when Bruce mentioned early in the second set that there was plenty of room past the first row for people to come and dance, people flocked there, and the security seemed not to mind. This was until people began to get into fights, presumably over people standing and preventing others from seeing. Shortly thereafter, stage managers pulled Bruce aside during a song as he was ambling about with his accordion, and he came back to note that there had been a couple of fights, and that people should be respectful, citing that "If I was out in the crowd, I might want to sit on my ass and just groove, y'know what I'm sayin'?"
People began to get up on the stage for the encore, eventually becoming a crowd as Bruce donned the accordion for Rainbow's Cadillac. Some were dancing with skill...others...well, with the vigor of liquor. It was a great concert, though, and a wonderful first experience in what will hopefully be a trend that continues throughout my life and Bruce's career.
