From Dave Wilson ... thanks, Dave!
Purely Magical!!!
Played to a part yuppie/part hippie crowd, and was feeding off the "kids" at the show. About 3 songs into the set (all newer songs), he stops playing and talks about how most of the people there are wandering, "when is he going to play the hits, we want to hear the hits" and there is another part of the crowd "that knows what we are all about" and the kids started screaming, and he thanks us for coming to the show, and proceeds to play Mandolin > TWBS > Black Muddy River tease > Lady With A Fan > Mandolin, much to the delight of the crowd!
Most of the first set was pretty relaxed, straight forward Bruce, then comes a monster of a second set (Included a very beautiful Fortunate Son > Comfortably Numb > Fortunate Son--he stuck the C. Numb!!!).
The show contained alot of Dead teases, mainly from RS (nephew) who played the whole show with him. Saw Bobby Hornsby in the crowd also. Thought he might come up and sing, but never did.
A fight broke out at the beginning fo the set (yeah, there was actually a fight at a Bruce show at the freakin Biltmore Estate) and Bruce had to make a little announcement to tell everyone to respect their neighbors.
Encore was somewhat of a bust out, he said they haven't played it in a while---Scarlet Begonias!!!>Rainbow's Cadillac!
The venue was the most beautiful venue I have ever been too. I mean it was the Biltmore Estate, and Bruce was set up less then 100 yards from the side of the house. The backdrop of the stage was the Pisgah National Forest, and the sun was beginning to set when Bruce took the stage. Tried taking some pictures, but the Biltmore security was not very nice about it, so I had to sneak them in when I could, (and when I wasn't dancing!)
By far, the best Bruce show I have seen!
