Venue: Cincinatti, OH .. September 7 1999
A terrific review from Kip - it's really given a feel of the tour for me.
For those of you who have seen them you already know how great they sound together and for those of you contemplating seeing them...contemplate no longer!!! Run out, get your ticket and see them at the venue closest to you!
One word: AWESOME!!! Liz, Tony and I saw them last night (9/7/99) at Riverbend Music Center in Cincy, OH. Show lasted 3 hours and 35 minutes!!!
They were all in rare form! A fashion highpoint of the night was Bruce modeling his new threads handpicked by David Lindley while on a shopping spree earlier in the day at the renowned, "House of Adam", in Cincy!! His shiny shirt appeared to be made from a lavender & silver plaid Lame' material! Quite retrospective and a bit "Austin Powerish"!! Bruce was ribbed about it all evening from the rest of the gang!! We thought it looked cool Bruce!!
Jackson, who also had apparently accompanied them on this shopping spree chose a more conservative looking shirt! Bonnie and Shawn were dressed conservatively as well!
The show was not a sell-out according to one of the security guards who was standing near our seats, therefore Riverbend did not hang all their big screens and at times the stage lighting was so dark it was difficult to see them. However, It was a beautiful summer evening, mild temperature, slight breeze coming off the Ohio River and the ever present smell of a nearby BBQ, which Bonnie commented on numerous times throughout the evening as the smoke from the BBQ seemed to constantly finds its way onto the stage!
I tried to keep as near a politically correct setlist as possible, so if anyone else was there and has any corrections or comments on the list I have, please feel free to add or correct it as needed!! I failed to get the first tune, which was a Jackson Browne song, because I was at the T-shirt booth making a purchase!! So here goes my best shot - minus the first song!!
Down the Road Tonight (BH & All)
Me and the Mona Lisa (SC & BH)

Just My Imagination (SC and BH)
Cruising On Down The Road (Started by D. Lindley and everyone joined in but Bruce. The crowd was rocking!!!
ENCORE # 2
The End Of The Innocence (Everyone--Bruce on Accordian) Fantastic Version!
ENCORE # 3
Load Out->Stay (Jackson started out solo on Bruce's piano with a booster pillow too!! What is with this booster pillow!! LOL...Then went into Stay with Shawn dancing with the guitar player and Bruce - accordian, Bonnie - guitar ....crowd was wild!!)
ENCORE # 4
Black Muddy River (Everyone Sang--Bruce on Piano) One of the best versions ever...a definite highlight of the evening!!
David Lindley, George Marinelli, JT and drummers played for almost every song in one form or another! Bruce, Bonnie, Shawn, Jackson were so inter-changable all evening with their singing and their playing of their traditional instruments that it was really quite hard to tell at times who was doing what ...they blended so splendidly!
Would be nice to see this become a replacement for Further/Other Ones.... "THE SENSITIVE ONES" in the future! Be nice to anticipate a CD from these shows....Hint, Hint!! So check it out if you get the chance...Money well spent!!
Thanks Bruce, Bonnie, Shawn, Jackson and everyone else!! Great Job!! Kip
And thanks again to Kip for a great review.
