Don’t You Believe Them.

Here’s a distraction from the condition of the world today. In the middle of a global pandemic, grief, protests and loss, eleven selected songs with a message of hope, love and collaboration, performed by Bruce Hornsby. In the face of adversity: don’t you believe them.

This is not to debate a topic which has disgraced the human race for centuries. Because there is no rational way to debate the utterly irrational. There is no way to make sense out of nonsense.

To those who say “all” lives matter, that can’t happen until black lives matter.

And to those who tell us that none of that can be changed: please, don’t believe them.

The Way It Is tells us:

“They passed a law in ’64 / To give those who ain’t got a little more /But it only goes so far. / Because the law don’t change another’s mind / When all it sees at the hiring time / Is the line on the color bar”

“That’s just the way it is / Some things will never change / That’s just the way it is / But don’t you believe them“.

That part of that song is imploring us:

It may seem like “some things will never change” if we wait for the failures of society and the human condition to fix themselves.

Instead, it falls upon each of us, individually, to proactively take our own steps to change them ourselves.
