This wasn’t their first collaboration, since Thile’s band Punch Brothers opened at the Wolf Trap in 2011. Chris remained on stage for most of the Noisemakers’ show – see a video clip below. They also played together at Telluride in the following year.

He’s known to be a huge follower of Bruce’s, and transcribed the entire Spirit Trail release. As you’ll hear, he listened to Resting Place on repeat until he learnt it.

You can listen on demand to Bruce with Chris Thile, Rob Moose and members of the Louisville Symphony orchestra on the Live From Here website. You’ll hear Cast-Off, Blinding Light of Dreams, Mandolin Rain and Resting Place.

Also joining Bruce Hornsby on the show were Noam PIkelny, the Milk Carton Kids and Chris Thile’s former Nickel Creek partner, Sara Watkins. And if you haven’t caught  him before, a very talented comedian in Mike Yard.

Check the Live From Here website. for Bruce Hornsby, Chris Thile and more on “Live from Here”.
